Oil Painting Skills with Jill Iliffe

Categories: ,

Join Jill at her purpose-built studio in the Surrey Hills close to the Kent and Sussex borders, for an exciting day of painting or drawing. Jill achieved her MA in Drawing at the University of the Arts London in 2009 after being awarded the Rootstein Hopkins Foundation student of the year award after her BA at Wimbledon School of Art. The Foundation saw in Jill her love of skill and craft when making her work, which she believes allows artists to express their ideas – without the skills, artists are often frustrated with their own limitations.

Spending a day with Jill you could paint or draw a portrait from a photograph with oils or pencils, or you could also learn how to draw and paint from a life model. One of Jill’s specialisms is portrait and life work and she has often worked to commission, as well as creating a series of portraits of students.

Jill’s work also includes other subject matter such as interiors, depicting hair, nature and a recurring theme is working from old photographs, both in pencil and oils. If you are interested in still life, interiors or expressing your ideas, or portfolio building, a concentrated day with Jill will improve your skills and build your confidence.

Jill has taught adults at all levels of ability from beginners to professional artists, and she is passionate about teaching and really enjoys it. You will mainly paint with oils, gouache and graphite pencil, but also you may enjoy sketching in charcoal or working in coloured pencils.
