Join Mark in his Studio at the iconic Spode Works at the heart of the Stoke-on-Trent culture revival. With its rich industrial heritage, the Spode site boasts a plethora of historical vistas which hark back to the Pottery capital heyday of the region. Imbibe the ghosts of industry past to bring out the edginess of the creative process.
Mark considers himself to be an ‘experimental’ painter’, approaching the canvas with the mindset of a sculpture. He uses a unique combination of contemporary materials to create powerful and immersive works which draw in the viewer captivatingly. Mark often works with plastic resins and has tailored this course towards helping students incorporate the use of epoxy resins into their own artistic practice.
This course is a chance to discover and incorporate new ways of working using various mediums. Mark will instruct you on various painting and resining techniques tailored to your needs. There will be some mixed media tuition also, so please bring any physical artifacts you would like to incorporate into an artwork. These can include jewellery, found objects and photography. If you would like to bring previous work to learn how to introduce a clear layer of resin, please feel free to.
Participants are welcome to join Mark for lunch at the Potbank Café 12pm until 1pm
AVAILABILITY
This experience is available by appointment on selected dates throughout the year from 10am – 3pm (with a one-hour lunchbreak)
SUTABILITY
The course is intended to be as inclusive as possible with quite a wide range of options spanning all levels of experience and ability
REQUIREMENTS
You must be aged 18 years or over to take part in this experience
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on, changing facilities are available on site
Health & Safety protective gear will be provided
