Description
Join Alexandra Carr, world famous artist who works with patterns in nature, natural processes and phenomena. She has worked and collaborated with Jean-Paul Gaultier, been involved with model making for Sir Norman Foster as well as being commissioned by seminal musicians Radiohead. With Alexandra you can dive into another art world and find different ways of expressing yourself while experimenting with Metal Piercing or Artistic Practice and Installation. Of particular focus is the boundary between art, science and technology.
‘Dawn is Broken’ -light painting experience
Designed to give you a taste of the processes of a multimedia artist, this one day experience will consist of a tour of the studio, with explanations of previous work and concepts. You will be shown works in progress and shown various techniques of image making. Before heading out to create work together, Alexandra will guide you through the settings required for long exposure night photography. If you don’t own a digital SLR camera she will show you how to create stunning effects using simple, everyday light sources and a smartphone.
There’ll be time for some exploratory play, your own light portrait and then, if you’re feeling up for a challenge, we’ll be looking to describe our relationship to space and the environment through light.
There’s no experience necessary and no expensive camera equipment is required.

This experience is available Monday – Sunday 6pm – 12am on selected dates throughout the year. Start times will vary depending on the time of year.

MATERIALS AND WHAT TO WEAR
All materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring a light source and your own camera. A fully charged smartphone is advisable. This is largely an outdoor activity so please dress sensibly according to the season.
