Description

This is a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts to indulge in an art experience in the foothills of Gredos National park where you can incorporate the landscape, animals and the Spanish sunshine into a finished art work. Join Elinor Evans MA RCA and winner of many painting awards in her Picadero studio where amongst her horses and other animals you will share an unforgettable memory of Spain.

It will be an intimate informal experience, an insight into the process behind the way she works: from setting up scenes, creating imagery to painting in oils.

She invites you to collaborate and engage with her surroundings, to connect with her animals and play a role within the art. She will show you how you can become a participant in your own artwork through theatrical settings, photo shoots and fast painting.

The Spanish sun plays an important role within her work as she thrives on gaining maximum contrast between light and dark within her paintings. Often setting up scenes outside where she takes photos to provide the image to work from back in the studio. She also gains this effect from using artificial light in the studio which gives her an equally dramatic outcome.

The main theme and subject within her work is a statement between man and animal, using handmade masks of animals to cover the face, symbolizing social hypocrisy within man.

She chooses the scenery as a back drop to the artwork depending on the amount of movement needed to create in the paintings, whether it be a galloping horse, a jumping dog or leaves blowing on an oak tree. She likes to think shadows can also create the sense of movement in her work even from a sitting pose.

Elinor Evans would like to share with you her painting experience and knowledge, giving you an insight in to her fluid painting style, enlighten you on how she keeps the white of the canvas as part of the painting and her distinctive approach to painting – like drawing on paper.
